WHAT IS FLOW BASKETBALL?

FLOW Basketball is more than a basketball team.

We help young players grow on and off the court.

Our program is for girls in grades 6 through 8.

Players will learn basketball skills, teamwork, confidence, and leadership. We want every player to grow in three areas:

Mind

Think clearly and stay calm.

Body

Move well and grow strong.

Spirit

Grow as a kind person.

OUR MAIN GOAL

Our goal is to help young players become strong, kind, and responsible leaders.

Players will learn how to:

Make good choices
Work with a team
Handle strong feelings
Stay calm under pressure
Set goals
Help others
Why This Age Matters

THE MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARS

The middle school years are a big time for growth.

Young people begin to make more choices on their own.

They also learn more about who they are and who they want to become.

FLOW gives players a safe place to learn, practice, make mistakes, and grow.

HOW FLOW HELPS PLAYERS GROW

FLOW uses basketball and other healthy activities to teach life skills. The program may include:

1
Basketball training
2
Movement and body skills
3
Yoga and stretching
4
Breathing and meditation
5
Martial arts activities
6
Family connection
7
Player and team goals
8
Community service

All activities should connect back to the same goal:

HELP EACH PLAYER GROW IN MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT.

Our Standards

OUR THREE FLOW STANDARDS

Our Mission

MORE THAN BASKETBALL.
PREPARING HER FOR LIFE.

Connection, Honesty, and Growth guide everything we do. They lead to our mission:

OUR MISSION: EQUIP. EMPOWER. PROTECT.

We give girls the tools and confidence to:

Make smart choices
Set healthy boundaries
Recognize red flags
Speak up and get help
Build confidence
Know their worth
Stay safe in life
Support each other

REAL TOOLS. REAL TALK. REAL IMPACT.

PREPARING HER ON THE COURT, IN SCHOOL, AND IN LIFE.

The Story Behind FLOW

WHAT DOES “FLOW” MEAN?

The name FLOW comes from the idea of a flow state.

A flow state happens when you are fully focused on what you are doing. You feel calm, confident, and ready. You are not worried about the past or the next play. You are focused on the moment in front of you.

Basketball can help players learn how to enter this state.

At FLOW, players learn to:

Stay focused during pressure
Let go of mistakes
Trust their training
Play with confidence
Stay present
Enjoy the game

These skills do not only help in basketball. They can also help at school, at home, and in life.

“BE WHERE YOUR FEET ARE.”

Coach Clydon Vista
Founder & Head Coach, FLOW Basketball

Coach Clydon Vista is a Filipino American who was raised in the Rio Grande Valley.

He played varsity basketball at Nikki Rowe High School in McAllen, Texas.

Coach Clydon earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. He later earned a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree.

As an occupational therapist, he has worked with children and families to build:

Confidence
Focus
Emotional control
Social skills
Independence
Healthy daily habits

Coach Clydon created FLOW Basketball because he saw that young players need more than drills and games.

They also need positive coaches, strong role models, and a safe place to grow.

His goal is to help young people in the Rio Grande Valley become better players, better teammates, and better leaders.

He also wants to challenge the idea of the “Valley mindset” that tells young people to think small, fear failure, or believe they must leave home to succeed.

FLOW teaches players that they can grow, lead, and build something meaningful right here in their own community.

Coach Clydon’s Mission

“TO HELP YOUNG PLAYERS GROW INTO CALM, CONFIDENT, AND CARING LEADERS THROUGH BASKETBALL.”

That belief shapes everything we do at FLOW.
